Cryostat training
The HTRC facility has two state-of-the-art cryostats (Microm, HM505 and HM505V). For safety and proper technique we provide required cryosectioning training using either our or investigator’s samples (latter preferred). After training session investigators can register on-line to be able to make reservations at their convenience.
Cryostat training steps:
- Schedule an appointment with Leslie Martin (4-8392)
- Select tissue sample
- Put it in cryomold (5-15mm) with OCT compound
- Freeze sample using liquid nitrogen
- Bring sample on dry ice
- Training takes 30-60 minutes
- Troubleshooting as needed
