The Biospecimen Bank repository is located in the Department of Pathology, University of Chicago Medical Center. All de-identified bar coded frozen tissue samples are stored at -80º C in cassettes labeled with cryo/fluid resistant labels. The -80º C freezers are organized with custom boxes/racking and have alarms (equipped with a paging system to alert Biospecimen Bank staff if there is a temperature rise) and a back-up carbon dioxide tank to maintain cabin temperature in the event of power failure. Paraffin blocks are stored at room temperature in a locked cabinet, also located in the Biospecimen Bank. Only Biospecimen Bank staff will have access to storage facilities within the Biospecimen Bank. Next
