Pathology Image Analysis (PIA)

Overview

Manual slide analysis is highly subjective and commonly employs broad visual scoring protocols that are less than ideal for research use. The Department of Pathology with BSD support offers brightfield automated cellular imaging system (ACIS) that can quantify staining intensities in histological slides and represents a dramatic improvement in analytical accuracy and resolution that yields better, more defensible research results. The ACIS is the standard of care today in image analysis for quantitative IHC measurement in the clinical setting with FDA clearance, backed by more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles.

Main applications of the ACIS include tissue scoring and quantitative analysis, rare event detection, microvascular density counting, ploidy analysis, integrated optical density analysis and tissue microarray scoring.
